History can be an indicator of future success.

The mission of Hughes Development LP is to meet the growing demand for urban lifestyles through the creation of memorable places that provide enjoyment for those that use and live in the space.

Through their dedication and enhancement of local communities, Hughes has earned a reputation as one of the premier private boutique development firms in the country. With a dedication to the enhancement of communities, a thoughtful planning process, and appreciation of architecture, Hughes Development has earned a reputation as one of the premier investment and development firms in the United States.

Ken Hughes founded Hughes Development in 1983 in Dallas, Texas.  Since that time they have invested in, owned, developed, leased and managed major retail, residential, office, and mixed-use projects throughout the Southwestern US, Mexico, Europe and beyond.  Hughes specializes in mixed-use projects that respect the context of their neighborhoods while creating memorable places that provide satisfaction for those that use the space – as tenants, residents, and visitors – while delivering exceptional economic returns.

Mockingbird Station

Generally recognized as the most visionary transit-oriented, mixed-use development in the United States, Mockingbird Station is a redevelopment of the 1926 telephone manufacturing facility located adjacent to the Katy Railroad.  In 1999 Hughes Development converted the old facilities into specialty retail and added 211 loft units above.  Mockingbird Station is held out by real estate developers nationwide as the text book example of the live, work, play concept at work in an urban real estate project.

Highland Park Village

Opened in 1931, Highland Park Village is recognized as the first shopping center in America and the prototype for shopping centers across the country. Acquired in 1976, Hughes along with partner Henry S. Miller company re-tenanted the shopping center to create an atmosphere synonymous with style, charm and excellent customer service. In March of 2000, Highland Park Village was designated as a National Historic Landmark.
